day 55: thursday
- got up, had breakfast, packed, cleaned the room upstairs and walked down the road to say goodbye to the heath
- walked down to long's for fish and chips with granny, grandad and caryn (we sent our suitcases in the car with granny & grandad). it was so good, as usual. i can't believe i managed to get a week and a half into my english visit to have chish & fips, but really long's is one of the only places to go. i love going with granny and grandad
- the bus into poole was late, of course. we said goodbye to granny & grandad and were on our way to london! the bus got into poole in perfect time and we got on our national express bus which actually had wireless, as advertised!
- arrived at victoria station and sat in the departure terminal for about an hour before our next bus... and skyped greg
- the bus out of london took us past big ben & the houses of parliament (we snapped a picture - proof that we were really in london) and then through all the nicest neighborhoods ever: peeling paint, sketchy shop signs, chinese take-out EVERYWHERE, construction, boarded up buildings... london's finest. after over an hour of getting absolutely nowhere we were on the motorway for about 20 minutes before sitting in traffic to try and get to tunbridge wells. we only arrived about half an hour behind schedule though, so quite good for london traffic. GUH
- chatted with bev & harry the entire drive back to sevenoaks and through our cuppa (which was offered right after we walked through the door) bev made us a late dinner that was delicious, then we chatted some more about the EU and madison and how americans don't understand european culture or the EU at all, then we retired to our room
- had the best shower i've had in absolutely ages, talked to krista for a bit, and rejoiced in the wonders of the internet
