- woke up at 9, fell back asleep until 10:30, woke up again at 11 and 11:45 before finally giving up on getting any more sleep at 12:15. i didn't actually emerge from our room until 1:30 when i decided it was time to face the day
- bev made scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast, NOMNOM
- our plans for the day were delayed by a sudden onslaught of heavy rain, so we spent more quality time with our laptops
- found wellies and raincoats and headed to ightham mote with bev and caryn. we wandered around the grounds for a bit, as it had stopped raining briefly. as we arrived to the house, the rain began again so we went inside. it is unknown when ightham mote was actually built, but it was around in 1320 for sure, so it's quite old. there was tons of tudor roses and pomegranates everywhere from henry VIII's rule and the "new chapel" was built in the mid-1400s. interestingly, the last owner of the house was an american, so there were lots of randon american-y things in parts of the house
- took out the recycling on our way home and as soon as we got back to bev's i walked up to our room and passed out face-down on my bed
- harry called us down to dinner/woke me up and we had chicken and rice with rhubarb crumble for dessert... sooo yummy! harry & i hung out for a bit after dinner, then we watched a comedy program with bev before turning to the women's world cup final, usa v. japan... caryn joined us just before it went into extra time and we watched all the way through the penalty shoot-out. i hate penalty shoot-outs... i always feel so badly for the goalies, and also all the kickers, and i get so tense that i can hardly handle the pressure. i actually left the room for the last kicks, so i missed japan's actual winning goal... ohhh well.
