- woke up around noon, eventually made it to the kitchen for breakfast, and generally had a slow morning
- headed out to the mouth of truth with caryn to meet up with kari and david
- walked over to circus maximus to see if anything was going on with the gay pride rally/parade going on there, but it was still being set up. kari and david decided to go home while caryn and i went to go collect a few more churches
- went to the basilica di san clemente, a 12th century church built on top of a 4th century church built on top of a first century roman "church." all three layers are open to visitors (for 5 euro) and it was so cool! it's also crazy to realize just how much the ground level has risen over the last 2000 years.
- walked back to circus maximus and took the tram home. there was a support concert happening later (which lady gaga was attending), but we decided we needed to go home for a nap and some food first
- napped for about an hour, then went out to the chinese restaurant across the street with our shwolf (she-wolf) pack: kari, caryn & i. the food was incredible, but the service was so slow! by the time we finished eating it was too late to go back out to circus maximus for the concert, so we went home to get ready for the night
- went down to the guys' rooms to amass our enormous group of loud americans and headed back to scholar's
- hung out at scholar's with everyone. caryn and i made some more italian friends: andrea, emanuele (a different one), davide, and valerio. kari found herself an italian boy for the night and we were all very excited about that. i also happened to run into ryan lovell! he went on my study abroad to new zealand with me 2 years ago and just happened to be at the same bar in rome as me! his study abroad for the summer ended and he was touring europe with some friends, on his way to amsterdam in the morning. it's incredible what a small world this is
- walked back to the apartments with kari. we stopped to walk along the river where there are lots of tents and things all set up kind of like a little bazaar/carnival. we always meant to check it out and it was our last night, so we went for it. we found a fish and chips vendor and, since we were starving, bought some. it was delicious and kari is now able to say she has shared fish and chips with a real english person!
- talked to travis briefly before falling into a deep and exhausted sleep
