i'm gonna write you a letter

day 27: thursday
- up at 7:45 for class at 9... i was actually able to participate today, i felt quite proud
- had sammiches at home with caryn
- brief reading siesta... which i spent walking back to ACCENT to find my water bottle and yelling at the ladies who work the desk because the guy who was supposed to come the previous afternoon, or that morning, had not shown up
my favorite boticelli piece
- tour of the uffizi gallery with the group. our guide, freya had these crazy leopard print glasses, a red stripy shirt, a crown shaped ring, and these wedges that matched her entire outfit. she was also really casual and chill, talking about imagining ourselves "just chilling at the medici palace, drinking wine with the family, and looking at a painting," but she was also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about art. we learned so much as she took us on a chronological tour of paintings, examining how man's concept of himself in society changed and was reflected through art over time. once again, it was impossible to not be interested in the art thanks to our guide. the one thing ACCENT florence has managed to get right is the tour guides, they have been great. it was also really cool to see all the boticelli, michelangelo, davinci, caravaggio, etc in the same tour. our student passes can get us back into the uffizi for free, which i might take advantage of since we skipped quite a few pieces
- ramen noodles snack with caryn, courtesy of her parents. unfortunately, none of the burners on our stove work now either, so we had to cook in the boys' apartment. at this rate we will have moved in there by the end of this trip!
- walked to the train station with caryn to buy our tickets to go to venice this saturday. they were quite expensive, but we figure it's venice so we can't miss out on it when we are this close! we are only going for the day, though, cause hostels were all ridiculously expensive and/or far out of town so we couldn't make that work... oh well
- walked all the way to a grocery store just over a mile from our apartment to buy proper food. the prices were good, but the long walk back with our supplies was quite annoying... that's what we get for living in a great location!
- shwolf pack dinner with kari, kelly, caryn, breanne , sarah... and mike at a restaurant just down the street from kari's apartment. we got see their place and it is super cute, but waaay at the top of about 100 steep stairs with no elevator! so glad we didn't have to drag our suitcases up that.
- went back to our apartment to shower and grab my things before heading back to kari's with all the ingredients for meat sauce, my computer, ethernet cord, and machiavelli. they finally got internet yesterday, their stove works, kari has all the spices, and i miss hanging out with them, so i took advantage of the chance to kill multiple birds in one stone. i hung out with kari, kelly and amanda, made enough sauce to last caryn and i the rest of the trip, got a bunch of reading done, and skyped greg until i left at about 2
- returned home, got ready for bed, and talked a little bit more to greg before falling asleep
